BJP worker arrested in Bengaluru Rameshwaram cafe blast case

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was arrested on Friday in connection with the Bengaluru Rameshwaram cafe blast, reports claimed.

Asianet News reported that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested BJP worker Sai Prasad in connection with the Rameshwaram cafe blast. He was arrested from Thirthahalli in Karnataka's Shivamogga district.

10 people were injured in a blast at the famous Rameshwaram cafe in Bengaluru on March 1.

Investigation reveals big

Sai Prasad claims to have had contact with suspects from Thirthahalli and Chikkamagaluru. The NIA had earlier raided the houses of two youths and a mobile shop owner in Thirthahalli.

According to the report, the investigation revealed that Sai Prasad had contact with these persons, leading to his arrest for further questioning. It was also revealed that a police officer in Chikkamagaluru had helped the mother of the main conspirator get a rented house.

Muzammil Sharif, the accused in the Bengaluru cafe blast case, "originally from Kalasa, had shifted his mother to Chikkamagaluru with the help of the inspector."

Muzammil Sharif, the main conspirator in the Bengaluru cafe blast, was arrested by the NIA, news agency PTI reported. He was caught as a co-conspirator as NIA teams raided 18 locations, including 12 in Karnataka, five in Tamil Nadu and one in Uttar Pradesh.

Other accused in the Rameshwaram blast

The NIA, which took over the case on March 3, had earlier named the main accused, Musavir Shajeeb Hussain, who carried out the blast. He had also identified the second conspirator, Abdul Mateen Taha, who is also wanted by the agency in other cases. Both persons are absconding.

The investigation reportedly revealed that Muzammil Sharif provided logistical support to two other identified accused in the case involving the IED blast at the cafe located on ITPL Road, Brookfield in Bengaluru on March 1.

The NIA last month announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh each for the arrest of two wanted accused in the Rameshwaram cafe blast case, Abdul Matin Ahmed Taha and Musavir Hussain Shajeeb.

The agency, while circulating the photographs of the two absconding accused on its official 'X' handle, informed, "Anyone who provides any information leading to the arrest of the accused persons will be rewarded". It also clarified that the identity of the informer will be kept confidential.
