c latest update: Eid will celebrate on 10 April in Saudi 2024

Eid-al-Fitr 2024 is expected on 10 April or 11 April according to the moon sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon. This special occasion is celebrated as Ramadan Eid on behave of sacred fasting of a month.

Experts have been busy in discussions regarding the potential influence of a total solar eclipse on the observation of the moon. According to reports, there's a possibility that the crescent moon may not be visible immediately after the eclipse, potentially resulting in a delay in the moon sighting until April 9, 2024. That's why people confirmed two different possible dates for Eid. Consequently, festivities are slated to boot off the day following the sighting of the crescent moon.

Tonight's total solar eclipse will temporarily shroud the sun completely, aligning with the Earth in perfect harmony. This alignment will cast temporary darkness across various countries as the moon blocks the sun entirely. Therefore, the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon, which marked the judgment of Ramadan 2024 and the onset of Eid-ul-Fitr, might experience a postponement until April 9, 2024. This rare occurrence will last for approximately four minutes, revealing the intriguing outer layer of the sun.

With fasting underway since March 11, 2024, across regions encompassing the Middle East, USA, UK, and Canada, the Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia appealed to Muslims throughout the Kingdom. They were urged to keep a vigilant watch for the new crescent moon on the evening of Monday, Ramadan 29, 1445 Hijri, corresponding to April 8, 2024. However, despite concerted struggles, the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon evaded viewers in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, and other Middle Eastern countries on April 8. Consequently, "Chand Raat" will illuminate the skies on Tuesday, April 9, followed by the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr on April 10, 2024. This signifies a 30-day fasting period for Muslims this Ramadan instead of the anticipated 29 days.

According to Indian time, the total solar eclipse is scheduled for April 8, 2024, spanning from 9:12 PM to 2:22 AM. During this period, Muslims in various countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, USA, United Kingdom, UAE, and Qatar, are gearing up to witness the crescent moon of Shawwal. This sighting marks the culmination of Ramadan 2024 and the inception of Eid-ul-Fitr. Eid-ul-Fitr, a significant Islamic festival symbolizing the "celebration of breaking the fast," is observed globally by Muslims, with its precise date varying annually based on the lunar calendar. This year's Ramadan was anticipated to conclude on Monday, April 8, coinciding with an astronomical wonder where the new moon would be visible during the total solar eclipse in specific Earth locations, suggesting a celestial spectacle for stargazers.
