Congress President Kharge Calls for Change, Compares Current Government’s Promises to ‘India Shining’ Slogan of 2004

New Delhi, March 19: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the country is demanding change. He compared the promises made by the current government to the “India Shining” slogan of 2004, predicting a similar outcome for both.

After a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), party leaders K.C. Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh told reporters that the CWC has given Kharge the authority to finalize and release the party’s manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections.

Venugopal said, “The CWC has prepared a roadmap to reach the party’s promises to the people.”

Ramesh stated that the Congress will not only issue a manifesto but also a “justice document” that will envision a bright future for the people.

During his speech at the CWC meeting, Kharge urged all party leaders and workers to take every issue raised in the manifesto to every village, city, and home in the country.

He said, “The country is indeed demanding change. The fate of the promises made by the current government will be like the ‘India Shining’ slogan of 2004.”

Kharge noted that in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s BJP government had given the “India Shining” slogan, but the party had to face defeat.

He said that Congress workers will have to work to take the manifesto to every home in villages and cities.

Kharge stated that all promises made in the manifesto will be strictly implemented. He said that before making promises, it has been deeply considered to ensure they can be fulfilled.

He said, “Since 1926, the Congress party’s manifesto has been a document of ‘trust and commitment’.”

Kharge praised the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” led by Rahul Gandhi, saying it drew the country’s attention to the real problems of the people.

He said, “It was not just a political journey, but it will be recorded as the largest public contact campaign in our political history.”

Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Ambika Soni, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, P. Chidambaram, and other senior leaders were present at the meeting. Kharge emphasized that the party’s manifesto will be a document of commitment and trust, and all promises made will be fulfilled strictly.

He praised the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” led by Rahul Gandhi, stating that it was not just a political journey, but it will be recorded as the largest public contact campaign in the party’s political history. He said the yatra has successfully drawn the country’s attention to the real problems of the people.

Kharge urged all party leaders and workers to ensure that every issue raised in the manifesto reaches every village, city, and home in the country. He emphasized that the Congress workers will have to work to take the manifesto to every home in villages and cities.
