Badaun Tragedy: "Sajid Used to Cut My Children's Hair, We Had No Enmity with Him," Father Mourns Sons' Murder

Two children were brutally murdered in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday evening, sparking panic in the area. The police acted swiftly and killed the accused, Sajid, in an encounter within three hours.

The victims' father, Vinod Singh, expressed his confusion and sorrow, saying that he had no enmity with Sajid, who even used to cut the children's hair. "I don't understand why Sajid killed my sons. He had asked my wife for 5,000 rupees, which was given to him," Singh said.

Singh stressed the importance of catching Sajid's brother, Javed, to uncover the main reason behind the murders, indicating that it was not a simple act of violence but possibly had a deeper motive. Singh insisted that capturing Javed alive was crucial to understanding the true reason behind the tragic event.

The crime took place in Baba Colony within the Civil Lines police station area of Budaun, where Sajid, who ran a salon opposite Vinod Singh's house, visited Singh's home on Tuesday evening. After receiving 5,000 rupees from Singh's wife, he claimed he felt unwell and went to the rooftop where Ayush (12) and Ahaan (6) were attacked and killed.

An FIR has been registered against Sajid's brother, Javed, by the children's father at the Civil Lines police station in Budaun, making him a co-accused in the murders. The police have launched a manhunt for Javed, raiding potential hideouts. The weapon used in the murders has been recovered from Sajid by the police. Initially, it was believed that Sajid was the sole perpetrator, as stated by the IG of the Bareilly zone.

A surviving child and eyewitness, Yuvraj, recounted how Sajid called for tea and water from his brothers, attacking them when they complied. Yuvraj managed to escape an attempt on his life by Sajid and confirmed the presence of both Sajid and Javed at the time of the crime.

Budaun's SSP, Alok Priyadarshi, assured that law and order were under control and mentioned the close watch on social media. He detailed how Sajid, known to the victim's family due to his barber shop, entered their house on the pretext of feeling unwell, attacked the playing children on the rooftop, and fled when confronted by the crowd. The police, upon receiving the alert, managed the situation and neutralized Sajid in retaliatory firing when he attacked them during the arrest attempt.
